The Opportunity

China is on course to be the world's largest economy
by 2035.

China is the world's second-largest economy. Goldman Sachs projects it could become the largest around 2035. The companies investing in this benefit today are the ones whose people's children will be ready for it.

Ages 5–16
The critical period for language acquisition. Native-like fluency is significantly harder after adolescence.

What We Build

Neural Capital.
The cognitive edge that grows with them.

Neural Capital is the lasting cognitive efficiency, executive function, working memory, and pattern recognition built through neuroscience-backed Mandarin immersion while the brain is still forming.

Learning tonal, character-based languages activates both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously. Neural Capital built early compounds with age. This is the investment that never depreciates.

Grundy & Bhatt, 2023 · Developmental Review ↗
Both
Both brain hemispheres, activated simultaneously.

Left: language, logic and sequence.
Right: tone, pattern and visual memory.
Mandarin is one of very few languages that demands both simultaneously.
K-12
Cognitive gains from childhood language learning compound with age. The earlier the better.
(zì) means character. Chinese is logographic: each character is a visual unit carrying meaning, not a phonetic spelling. Learning them recruits visuospatial cortex in ways no alphabetic script reaches.

Curriculum Architecture

6 Blocks. 14 Weeks. One complete foundation.

Every lesson runs as two parallel strands: a Language session (speaking, listening, vocabulary) and a Character session (reading and writing hanzi). The Character strand runs from week 1, alongside the Language strand. Each block ends with a language revision, a character revision, a progress report, and a cultural lesson (drawn from Chinese mythology at YCT 1; later levels explore other cultural themes). 11 lessons, 70 live sessions in total.

1–2Weeks
Block 1: First Words
Greetings, names, first characters, tone mastery and phonemic awareness. Cultural lesson: Mulan.
3–4Weeks
Block 2: People and Family
Family vocabulary, core phrases and classroom language. Cultural lesson: Pangu.
5–6Weeks
Block 3: Age and Descriptions
Numbers, age, physical descriptions, and longer sentence patterns. Cultural lesson: Nüwa.
7–8Weeks
Block 4: Places and Possessions
Possessives, places and extended dialogue. Real-world scenarios. Cultural lesson: Houyi the Archer.
9–10Weeks
Block 5: Days and Time
Days of the week, telling the time, and conversational confidence. Cultural lesson: Chang'e.
11–14Weeks
Block 6: Food, Final Review and Showcase
Food, complete programme review, internal language assessment, Neural Capital Impact Summary and Lingoodle Certificate of Completion.

The Founder

Built by someone who knows what it means
to find your edge late.

LO
Lauralee O'Donovan
Founder · Lingoodle

Dyslexic, and by her own account no one's idea of a star pupil. Then in her thirties she started learning Mandarin and found the characters came naturally, fast enough that her teachers were comparing notes. Chinese is visual and almost musical, and for a dyslexic mind that can be a doorway rather than a wall. She built Lingoodle for the children who haven't found their edge yet, especially the ones who don't think of themselves as clever.
